The People of God are in the Presence of God
Greetings, Wayne, a servant of God, by the grace of God, and placed into the hands of Jesus Christ. Some of you may have happened upon my videos and are wondering just who are the people of God.
I will show you by many scriptures from the bible that God’s people are in His presence as a result of being called and answering that call. They answer that call by first seeking God with a strong desire and a sincere heart.
Jot down the scripture references if you like so you can go over them. I will be the words in green. Purple highlights in the scriptures are key words of truth. This following scripture from the apostle Paul helped motivate me because it was simple and straight to the point:
1Th 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
A good start is believing that God does indeed exist and that the Holy Bible holds the mysteries of God waiting to be revealed to those who pray and seek Him with the whole heart. He says so. See here:
Jer 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Jer 29:12 Then shall you call upon me, and you shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
Jer 29:13 And you shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart.
And that takes a strong commitment to study the scriptures, willing to put God first above self, society, and Satan. If you take the time to prove God exists, you will have no problem believing Satan does as well. But let me give you some heads up scriptures regarding Satan:
Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, has God said, You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
The word "subtle" translates from the original Hebrew to cunning or crafty. The following verse ties the Serpent to Satan:
Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceives the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Now the fallen angels are referred to as demons or devils.
The Lord God made Satan an archangel, at first named Lucifer (meaning a bringer of light or brightness). But he had a falling out with God:
Isa 14:12 How are you fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how are you cut down to the ground, which did weaken the nations!
You can read more about Lucifer in Ezekiel 28, how he turned to iniquity or lawlessness and was given the name Satan by God, meaning adversary.
The name Satan first appears in 1Ch 21:1, an early example of Satan attacking or influencing a person of God, King David, who had God’s Holy Spirit and was in the presence of God. Notice the following verse:
1Sa 16:13 Then Samuel [a prophet of God] took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.
Receiving God’s Holy Spirit today is done through repentance towards God, which is coming out of the evil ways of the world and returning to the righteous ways of God, then full immersion Baptism by a servant or minister of God, followed by a laying on of hands and verbally placing one under the authority of Jesus Christ.
But as you may be beginning to see, there is a spiritual battle between good and evil that awaits. However, the bible contains many defenses, therefore the necessity to read and study the bible to discover them.
The bottom line is, you need to be fully aware of what is at stake by counting the cost. Jesus stresses this. You can read one account in Luke 14:25-33.
Now let’s tie receiving God’s Holy Spirit to being in God’s presence using the example of King David earlier who we learned did indeed have God’s Holy Spirit:
Psa 51:11 Cast me not away from your presence; and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
So here we clearly see that the people of God during these last days that I speak about also in the other videos have repented, been baptised, and received the Holy Spirit of God.
The struggle is to not have that Holy Spirit taken away. And that’s where obedience to God comes in.
Notice the following verses beginning with Moses:
Exo 15:26 And said, If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD your God, and will do that which is right in his sight, and will give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon you, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that heals you.
A very early example of God’s requirement of obedience from His people. It also highlights His ability to heal in certain cases. The willingness is according to our faith:
From our Lord:
Mat 9:29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.
Back to the commandments of God.
Here, God speaking to Solomon through the prophet Ahijah:
1Ki 11:38 And it shall be, if you will hearken unto all that I command you, and will walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with you, and build you a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel [the house of Israel] unto you.
Referring once again to King David, as a "servant". And although David was a king, he did not become all puffed up over his title, but rather, humbled himself to God as a servant.
This is the kind of heart God looks for.
Notice:
Act 13:22 And when he [God] had removed him [the disobedient king Saul], he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after my own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
You can read the account in 1Samuel 13.
What does Jesus say about the commandments?
Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law [the Old Testament law including the ten commandments], or the prophets [the prophets like Moses who gave His law]: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
So every law spoken by God through His prophets are required to be kept by His people today.
Continuing with our Lord:
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Interesting, since they (the Pharisees) were the religious establishment at that time that were suppose to be representing God.
You can read some of the things Jesus had to say about them in Mathew 6. Let’s have the apostle John sum up the matter with some good advice:
1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
Now we will compare the righteous being in God’s presence with the unrighteous not being in God’s presence. We will let the New Testament define righteous:
Luk 1:5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth [the mother of John the Baptist].
Luk 1:6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
Now let us tie righteous to being in God's presence:
Psa 140:13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto your name: the upright shall dwell in your presence.
You see how the mysteries of God are discerned here a little, there a little:
Isa 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
Isa 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
And it doesn’t happen over night. It has taken me ten years of trials to get to where I am now, and I have no regrets, only deep gratitude that God the Father deemed me worthy to be called.
Although, I do not arrogantly presume myself as being chosen. There are more trials ahead, and God willing, I will have the strength, and most importantly, the faith to endure till the end.
For this is the promise:
Mat 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
The people of God should understand this, Look here in Hebrews:
Heb 2:3 How shall we [the people of God] escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
Now back to God’s presence:
Psa 16:11 You will show me the path of life: in your presence is fulness of joy; at your right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
This is a good place to be.
Continuing:
Psa 31:20 You shall hide them in the secret of your presence from the pride of man: you shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.
Psa 100:2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
One of my favorites as I happen to play guitar and compose my own songs, in truth, from the heart.
Psa 116:14 I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.
Psa 139:7 Where shall I go from your Spirit? or where shall I flee from your presence?
That presence holds the key to eternal life.
See here in the book of John:
Joh 6:65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.
Joh 6:66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
Joh 6:67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve [apostles], Will you also go away?
Joh 6:68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? you have the words of eternal life.
Continuing with the righteous in His presence:
Psa 140:13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto your name: the upright shall dwell in your presence.
And the unrighteous:
Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
These know the truth, but they obey men rather than God. For money, which can be in the form of valuable property and possessions. And for honour among men.
Jer 5:22 Fear you not me? says the LORD: will you not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it
Unless He wills it so:
Jer 23:39 Therefore, behold, I, even I, will utterly forget you, and I will forsake you, and the city that I gave you and your fathers, and cast you out of my presence:
This is not a good place to be, especially for the people of God who are being judged now in return for the "pearl of great price" we have received.
Notice:
Mat 13:45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
Mat 13:46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
The hope of the people of God is to be counted worthy of the first resurrection into the Kingdom of God - a better resurrection.
See here in Hebrews:
Heb 11:35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
Rev 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
Speaking of God’s rest, the millennium, the 1000 year reign of Christ and the chosen who have been changed or resurrected to spirit beings in the first resurrection:
Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that has part in the first resurrection: on such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
And we will let the apostle Paul sum up our hope:
1Th 2:19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even you [the called and chosen] in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
So I hope this video has helped clarify who exactly are the people of God. It is a walk with God not to be taken lightly. God can be our best friend or our worst enemy. The choice is up to us.
If you decide to take that walk, put on the whole armour of God (Eph 6:11) by staying close to His word, given through the prophets in the Old testament, and by Jesus Christ in the New Testament. You will be tested.
Freely I have received, freely I have given.
Farewell,
Servanthood
Mat 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.
