Genesis - In the Beginning

Greetings, Wayne, a servant of God, by the grace of God, teaching truth under the authority of Jesus Christ to any who are willing to receive it, or as Jesus put it, to any who have ears to hear (Mat 11:15).

The truth about creation is found in the Holy Bible - the truth of God (Joh 17:17) - here a little and there a little (Isa 28: 10, 13). The key to discovering the truth about creation, or any other truth of God, is by first seeking God with all your heart (Jer 29:13) and putting your trust in His words rather than man's words (Psa 118:8). This is also a vital step to becoming a servant of God (Isa 50:10).

Let us begin in the book of Psalms to get a look at what the truth of God means or should mean to His servants. I will be the words in green. Purple highlights will emphasize important words or phrases of truth.

Psa 25:5 Lead me in your truth, and teach me: for You are the God of my salvation; on You do I wait all the day.

Psa 25:10 All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.

See the teachings on Repentance and Baptism under Teachings in the main menu for understanding of the new covenant in the New Testament.

Ps 33:4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all His works are done in truth.

Ps 100:5 For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endures to all generations.

Are God’s commandments part of His truth to all generations?

Ps 119:151 You are near, O LORD; and all your commandments are truth.

Ps 145:18 The LORD is near unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.

Now, with that in mind, let us see some truths about creation:

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven [H8064: King James Version] and the earth.

The Hebrew word for heaven in this verse has a duel meaning which refers to the sky or the celestial body. The Celestial body or “heavens” is the use here based on other verses such as the one at the start of the very next chapter:

Gen 2:1 Thus the heavens [H8064 same Hebrew word clearly describing the universe] and the earth were finished, and all the host [Hebrew: mass of things] of them.

Mass of things being all the stars, planets, suns, moons, etc...

A little reminder that Saturday is God's Holy day of rest in the next two verses:

Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made [Hebrew: brought about].

Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it [to make or pronounce to be clean; consecrate, which is to make or declare sacred; hallow, which is to make holy or set apart for holy use; to be or keep holy, the fourth commandment commands that we remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy]: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

The following two verses speak of the heavens or universe:

Gen 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day [Hebrew: space of time] that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,

The Hebrew word for day in Gen 2:4 refers to a space of time because, as we will see later on, science claims the universe is older than the earth. And as we will also see, the hidden mysteries of the Holy Bible show, here a little and there a little, that the universe did indeed exist before the creation of the earth.

Now, specifically homing in on God’s creation of the heavens, along with an important truth concerning idolatry (worshipping idols, statues, images):

1Ch 16:26 For all the gods of the people are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.

Idolatry is forbidden by God in the second of His Ten commandments. God is seeking out those who are willing to worship Him in Spirit and in truth (Joh 4:23).

It is now time to go here a little and there a little throughout the bible. We will begin with God confirming His creation of the earth while speaking with Job in the book of Job:

The Creation of the Earth

Job 38:1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

Job 38:2 Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?

Job 38:3 Gird up now your loins like a man; for I will demand of you, and answer me.

Job 38:4 Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if you have understanding.

Job 38:5 Who has laid the measures thereof, if you know? or who has stretched the line upon it?

Job 38:6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;

Job 38:7 When the morning stars [spirit beings; angels] sang together [literal stars do not sing], and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Make a note here that the angels or sons of God would not be singing and shouting for joy for a darkened earth covered by water as we will see when we continue on with a renewing of the earth beginning in Gen 1:2 after a space of time between Gen 1:1 and Gen 1:2.

Now, the morning stars in Job 38:7 are a reference to angels or spirit beings. Let us prove that from the bible:

Psa 104:4 Who makes His angels spirits; His ministers [Hebrew: worshippers; servants] a flaming fire:

The angels in Job 38:7 were singing and shouting for Joy because the earth was to be their first estate or habitation. Notice, from the book of Jude, son of Joseph and Mary, a half-brother of Jesus Christ, a hidden mystery brought to light:

Jud 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate [the earth that was created at that time, around 4.5 billion years ago according to scientists, long before man was created, which the angels were singing for joy over], but left their own habitation, he has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

Now 4.5 billion years may seem like a long time to man, but consider this amazing revelation to the apostle Peter about how God measures time:

2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

So if we took 4.5 billion years and divided by 1000 to represent days, we would already knock 4.5 billion years down to 4.5 million days. And if we divided 4.5 million years by 365 days to represent years we would get 12,368 years. Suddenly according to God's timeline, 4.5 billion years does not seem so far off after all.

Now, notice an example in the book of Mathew of the devils being aware of the coming judgement time mentioned in Jude 1:6:

Mat 8:28 And when He [Jesus] was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.

Mat 8:29 And, behold, they [the devils] cried out, saying, What have we to do with you, Jesus, you Son of God? have you come here to torment us before the time?

The time of the great day judgement mentioned in Jude 1:6.

Now, concerning the morning stars referring to angels, here based on this scripture from the apostle John’s vision in revelation:

Rev 9:1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him [referring to a being or angel] was given the key of the bottomless pit.

Does Jesus use the word star or stars in the bible to refer to angels?

Rev 1:20 The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks [an example coming here of the bible interpreting the bible]. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which you saw are the seven churches.

Here is Jesus speaking to the Sadducees who did not believe in a resurrection back to life:

Mat 22:30 For in the resurrection they [they who are resurrected to spirit or eternal life] neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

Spirit Beings. And tying the resurrection with rising from the dead:

Mrk_12:25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.

And in the book of Revelation, Jesus speaking to the seven churches compares giving the morning star with giving eternal life:

Rev 2:28 And I will give him the morning star.

Eternal spirit life from the one who has eternal spirit life and calls Himself the bright and morning star. Notice His promise here in the following verse from the book of John:

Joh 10:28 And I give unto them [saints; repented, baptised, members of the body of Christ who endure till the end (Rom 1:7; Eph 1:1; Jud 1:3; Rev 14:12)] eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Eternal God

Now referring to Himself, who has and gives eternal life, as a bright and morning star or immortal or eternal being:

Rev 22:16 I Jesus have sent my angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David [shown by the Genealogy of Jesus Christ in the beginning of the book of Mathew], and the bright and morning star.

Make a note of this reference to bright and morning star. We will see it come up again when looking at the arch angel Lucifer who rebelled against God and had his name changed to Satan - meaning adversary.

For Lucifer, morning star was an authoritative title, however, without the power to grant eternal life.

Now here, referring to the Eternal, during Moses’ final blessing on the twelve tribes or house of Israel:

Deu 33:27 The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before you [this while they were on the way to the land promised to them by God]; and shall say, Destroy them.

And then "eternal" confirmed by the apostle Paul in the New Testament:

Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen [or recognized], being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

"They" speaking of those who hold the truth in unrighteousness. Remember, God’s word is truth, here a little, there a little. But many prefer to have their own doctrines, what seems right to them, speaking easy and smooth things, rather than the truth of God.

An example is teaching that Sunday, the first day of the week is ok to worship God when God Himself does not support any such teaching anywhere in His word, the Holy Bible.

And does Jesus want people tweaking the bible to make money in His name? Here, Jesus giving the Twelve apostles final instructions:

Mat 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely you have received, freely give.

Now what about these angels who kept not their first estate? At this time we will turn our attention to the arch angel who led them, Lucifer, before he became known as Satan:

Introduction to Lucifer, previously an Archangel of God, now known as Satan

So, the heavens or universe and the angels were created first because there were angels shouting and singing for joy at the creation of the earth, their first habitation, as we learned from the books of Job and Jude.

And science proves that the earth has not existed for only a mere six to ten thousand years, according to what is commonly thought to be the biblical record of Genesis, but has been around for an estimated 4.5 billion years (man's measure of time), while the universe is thought to be around 13.8 billion years old (again, man's measure of time), confirming the heavens created first and then at some point the earth for a first habitation for the angels.

We learned from Jude that the earth was first inhabited by angels, and would have been under a ruler or archangel named Lucifer, meaning in the sense of brightness; the morning star, a high ranking being just as we saw Jesus describe Himself as the bright and morning star.

Lucifer at some point in time rebelled against God and had his name changed to Satan (Hebrew: adversary) by God. Let’s look at God’s description of the being Lucifer, now called Satan, that He created. We go to the book of Ezekiel:

Eze 28:11 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Eze 28:12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus [a reference to Satan, as we will see], and say unto him, Thus says the Lord GOD; you seal up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

Is beauty a big thing in this present evil world (Gal 1:4)? Think of Hollywood.

Eze 28:13 You have been in Eden the garden of God;

Ok, before we continue let us prove this statement is speaking of Satan:

Gen 2:8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

Confirming the Garden of Eden and the man (Adam) in it.

Gen 2:21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

Gen 2:22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

So now we have the man and the woman in Eden. And who shows up on the scene?

Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, has God said, You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

And who is the serpent?

Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceives the whole world [and as we just saw, he started with Adam and Eve]: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels [now devils] were cast out with him.

Here a little, there a little.

And now continuing with God's description in Ezekiel:

Eze 28:13 You have been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of your tabrets and of your pipes [a reference here to musical ability; ever wonder where the influence of Satanic or hate-filled songs come from?] was prepared in you in the day that you were created.

Confirming his being created by God.

Eze 28:14 You are the anointed cherub [angel] that covers [Hebrew: defends (Lucifer was once a defender of truth)]; and I have set you so: you were upon the holy mountain of God; you have walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire [no mortal flesh can do that].

Eze 28:15 You were perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, till iniquity [meaning evil; unrighteousness] was found in you.

Does Lucifer, now known as Satan, still have influence over the earth? Notice what he offered Jesus while trying to get Him to tempt, or test, God:

Mat 4:7 Jesus said unto him [Satan], It is written again, You shall not tempt the Lord your God.

Mat 4:8 Again, the devil took him up into an exceeding high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

Mat 4:9 And said unto him, All these things will I give You, if You will fall down and worship me.

Mat 4:10 Then says Jesus unto him, Get you hence [depart; go away], Satan: for it is written, you shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.

Jesus confirming the first commandment:

Exo 20:3 You shall have no other gods before me.

Mat 4:11 Then the devil left him [James 4:7], and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

So we see angels once again, and Jesus Himself did not challenge Satan’s dominion and sway over all the kingdoms of the earth because He, Jesus, still being in the flesh, had not yet been glorified by His crucifixion. Notice, while praying to the father as His crucifixion neared:

Jesus’ Sacrifice Glorified – Will Replace Satan and his Influence over the Earth at His Return

Joh 17:1 These words spoke Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify your Son, that your Son also may glorify you:

Joh 17:2 As you have given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as You have given him.

Confirming His Bright and Morning Star power to give eternal life to the saints. In the first resurrection, eternal life will be given to the saints - the called, chosen, and faithful of God (Rev 17:14) who have their names written in the book of life upon baptism and have endured till the end of their lives to keep it there (Rev 3:5).

Jesus also confirmed the Father doing the calling and placing the called under Jesus' authority. And to have eternal life, is to see the one and only true God. Notice in the next verse:

Joh 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know You the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.

Joh 17:4 I have glorified You on the earth: I have finished the work which You gave me to do.

Now notice the glorification of Jesus by crucifixion as the sacrificial Lamb of God:

Joh 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify You me with Your own Self with the glory which I had with You before the world was.

Joh 17:6 I have manifested [made known] your name unto the men which You gave me out of the world: yours they were, and You gave them [to] me; and they have kept your word.

Joh 17:17 Sanctify them through your truth: your word is truth.

So here are truths so far from God's word, the Holy Bible: Satan is real. Angels and devils are real. The earth was first inhabited by angels prior to Genesis 1:2.

But what exactly has happened with the earth from the time of its creation (Gen 1:1) up to the time of its renewal and creation of man on it 6 to 10 thousand years ago (Gen 1:2)?

The bible speaks of the "secret things of God" that have not yet been revealed to man. However, the things that are revealed to us by God are meant to be shared with all mankind. Satan is keeping that from happening with the whole world (Rev 12:9), but God is revealing them to His obedient servants (Psa 103: 17,18; Act 5:32) who in turn are sharing them with any who have ears to hear (Mat 13:9).

Here is the verse concerning the "secret things of God":

Deu 29:29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

And while influenced and distracted by Satan the Devil and not having taught those laws to our children, you see the direction the world is heading in as it increases in lawlessness and violence.

We will now have a close examination of the earth's renewal (Psa 104:30) and creation process upon the renewed earth beginning in Genesis 1:2.

But first, let us confirm this state of the earth requiring a renewal from what was revealed to the apostle Peter, a servant of God:

2Pe 3:5 For this they [scoffers] willingly are ignorant of [because they refuse to take the time to prove it (1Th 5:21)], that by the word of God the heavens were of old [having been created first before the earth, as even science confirms that the universe is older than the earth], and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

The state the earth was in when reading Genesis chapter 1.

2Pe 3:6 Whereby the world that then was , being overflowed with water, perished:

Confirming an already existing earth being left in a state of ruin which we find in Genesis 1:2.

2Pe 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now [due to a renewing of the earth and forming of the heavens (Sun, planets, moon, stars) around it], by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men [who have been on the earth since its renewing].

We will now have a close examination of Genesis 1:2.

The Renewing of the Earth

Gen 1:2 And the earth was [Hebrew: to exist; be or become; come to pass] without form [Hebrew: to lie waste; desolation], and void [Hebrew: to be empty; an undistinguishable ruin]; and darkness was upon the face [surface] of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

So we see from the original Hebrew language, that the Old Testament was written in, by Moses, who was taught by God, shows that the earth was already in existence at that time and had been left in a state of ruin.

Now we go to the book of Psalms for a gem of truth to see what exactly the Spirit of God was doing as the face of the earth, which was covered with water, was being renewed:

Ps 104:30 You send forth Your spirit, they are created [the life God created on the renewed earth]: and You renew [Hebrew: rebuild; repair] the face of the earth.

Confirming the reference to God’s Spirit in Genesis 1:2. It was a renewing of the earth that took place in Genesis chapter one and not an original creation. Let us now jump to Genesis chapter two:

Gen 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made [Hebrew: brought forth]; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created [man and all the other living creatures] and made [Hebrew: brought forth - current celestial bodies in the heavens positioned around the earth (galaxy)].

Now a few scriptures to show that the God of creation was the same God being who would later be made flesh and become known as the Son of God, the Son of Man, Jesus Christ.

From the apostle John:

Jesus, Creator, God of the Old Testament

Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.

Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Joh 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Confirming Jesus as the reliable source of truth.

Now confirming Jesus' role in creation from the apostle Paul:

Col 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which has made us meet [Greek: made us able] to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

Col 1:13 Who has delivered us from the power of darkness [God’s Holy Spirit is the light that does this (Dan 5:14)], and has translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son:

Col 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Col 1:15 Who is the image [Greek: likeness] of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him:

Col 1:17 And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist.

Col 1:18 And He is the head of the body, the church [Greek: called out ones - a spiritual church who worship God the Father in Spirit and in Truth (Joh 4:23)]: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the pre-eminence [Greek: to be the first].

Now to the book of Revelation referring to the future, returning Jesus Christ, as being the creator:

Rev 4:11 You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for you have created all things, and for your pleasure they are and were created.

And to confirm this is actually speaking of Jesus Christ and not the Father:

Rev 5:12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb [the Lamb of God the Father] that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

Now confirming Jesus as the God of the Old Testament as stated in John 1:1, the apostle Paul:

1Co 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that you should be ignorant, how that all our fathers [of the house or twelve tribes of Israel] were under the cloud , and all passed through the sea;

1Co 10:2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

God’s people or inheritance, figuratively baptized and placed under the authority and care of Moses, like sheep placed under the authority and care of a shepherd but with God being the owner.

1Co 10:3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat [food (what God taught them through Moses - Deu 8:3)];

1Co 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

And confirming that, that God, that Rock, Christ, was manifest or came in the flesh:

1Ti 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

And from Jesus Himself speaking to the Pharisees:

Joh 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.

Joh 8:57 Then said the Jews unto him, You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?

Joh 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

I am what?

Rev 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, says the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Freely I have received, freely I have given.

Farewell,

Servanthood
